Spend the day exploring Fes, the oldest imperial city and home to the world’s first university (9th century). Surrounded by ancient walls, the medina feels like stepping back in time.
Your local guide will take you through the narrow alleys to visit the famous tanneries, the Karaouine Mosque, and traditional workshops. After lunch at a Moroccan restaurant, continue to the Merenid Tombs for a panoramic view of the city. Overnight in Fes.
After breakfast, depart south through the cedar forests and mountains of the Middle Atlas. Pass through Ifrane, known as “Moroccan Switzerland,” and stop in Azrou, a Berber town known for its cedar wood crafts.
Continue to Midelt for lunch, then drive along the scenic Ziz Valley, dotted with thousands of palm trees. Arrive in Erfoud, known for fossils, before reaching Merzouga and the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Dinner and overnight at your desert hotel near the dunes.
After breakfast, explore the desert region and nearby Berber villages. Visit Khamlia village to enjoy traditional Gnawa music and discover the lifestyle of local nomads.
In the afternoon, embark on a camel trek through the dunes of Erg Chebbi to witness a magical sunset. Arrive at your desert camp, enjoy dinner under the stars, and join in traditional drumming before sleeping in a Berber tent.
Wake up early to watch the spectacular sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast and a refreshing shower, drive towards Ouarzazate. Stop in Rissani, an ancient caravan town, and in Erfoud to visit a fossil workshop.
Continue through the impressive Todra Gorges a paradise for walkers and photographers — and have lunch there. Proceed to Dades Valley and Kelaat M’Gouna (Valley of Roses), then travel along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to Ouarzazate. Visit the Kasbah of Taourirt and cinema studios before checking into your accommodation.
After breakfast, visit Aït Benhaddou, Morocco’s most famous kasbah and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore this fortress that has appeared in many films, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.
After lunch, drive across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m), with breathtaking views along the way. Arrive in Marrakech in the evening and transfer to your accommodation.
